Fujinon XF 16mm Is a Go to Lens

I picked up the Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 R WR during the most recent sale because of the reputation it earned among photographers and enthusiasts. Little Big Traveling Camera’s recent review sums up how most should feel about the lens but, unlike others, I don’t feel that the Fujinon XF 16mm is heavy or big for what it does. It feels just about right to me, and it is a great lens for photographing family and friends because you rarely have to back up to take well composed pictures quickly. On the other hand, the Fujinon XF 10-24mm F4 R OIS provides similar functionality, but adds the ability to go wide for architecture or tight for street shooting. If I had to pick just one it would probably be the Fujinon XF 10-24mm, but I own both because I like having a weather resistant setup I can shoot at night. New Fujifilm X-Pro 2 Bundle

The X-Pro 2 + XF35mm has been unavailable on Amazon for quite a while now, but it seems that Amazon is offering a new bundle… The Fujifilm X-Pro 2 + XF100-400mm F4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR is an interesting bundle, because it’s the one pairing that actually out performs the vast majority of DSLR’s on the market in every aspect. I enjoyed working with the Fujinon XF100-400mm F4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR when I reviewed it a few months ago and wish I still had one for trips to the zoo or recitals, but it’s a bit outside of my daily focal length requirements to justify. I am curious if this is an indication of Fujifilm’s new direction.

Flight of The Fujinon XF 50-140mm

Philip Powell took his Fujifilm X-Pro 2 and Fujinon XF 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR on an interesting last minute shoot from a helicopter and came away impressed. In Philip’s words “This Fujinon telephoto is not only extremely sharp, but also has a complete lack of any visible distortion, lateral colour fringes or light falloff.
