Cambo ACTUS-GFX For Fujifilm GFX50S Now Available

The ACTUS-GFX is a technical camera platform that enables GFX-50s users to apply movement, swing, tilt, rise and fall capturing the detail required when shooting in or out of the studio. The medium format 33mm x 44mm sensor captures a wider area than current full size DSLR systems.

“Modularity is the keyword – the systems components may be separated and recombined’”

The ACTUS-GFX can be used in combination with the GFX-50s and the full range of Actar lenses 24mm, 60mm, 80mm, 90mm and 120mm Macro. But it doesn’t stop there as there are also lens plates available for Hasselblad, Mamiya, Pentax, Rodenstock and Schneider.

Lenses will work without a built-in shutter, the GFX50s camera shutter operates when the electric lens is detached, enabling the camera body to be used with the ACTUS-GFX. Read More »

Fuji Guys: Fujifilm GFX 50S Top Features and Other GFX Videos From Today

Fuji Guys Top Features video for those that don’t have time for the manual or learn better from videos.

First Unboxing Videos
The first video is very to the point, but the second is long and shows everything including all of the lenses. It even shows the size of the GFX compared to a Leica SL, which makes the GFX look kind of small.

GFX/XT-20/X100F Impressions Video

Zed attended a Fujifilm event and here is a summery of his impressions.

  • The GFX lenses are pretty big.
  • He didn’t expect the mount to be so big.
  • The lenses feel well built and the manual focus rings feel good, but have a rubbery feel and are made out of metal.
  • The camera feels at home like a bigger X-T2.
  • AF felt kind of slow, but he thinks it was because the environment was dim.
  • The camera was final production firmware.
  • The touch AF worked well, but was a little slow and didn’t work in the menus, which they should add.
  • The camera is pretty heavy with the 120mm lens, but feels nice in your hands.
  • It feels like a Canon 5D Mark III

Fujifilm GFX 50S: A Great Camera For Smart Adapters According to Fringer

Fringer examined the pin out of the Fujifilm GFX 50S and it appears the camera was designed for to work with autofocus adapters. It’s highly likely Fringers will be able to complete a Contax AF adapter prototype within a few months for the Fujifilm GFX called the C645-GFX. You can read more about the possibility of AF adapters on the GFX here.

Mirror Lessons: Full Fujifilm X-T2 Review

Mirror Lessons has generated some of the best reviews on the web in recent months and their latests Fujifilm X-T2 review is no different. The video is a little long so ill summarize their findings below, but it’s definitely worth a watch.

  • Autofocus is second to none for a mirrorless camera and only the Sony a6300/a6500 come close, but face and eye detection aren’t perfect yet.
  • Image quality is great with excellent dynamic range and high ISO, but there is a purple flare issue to be aware of, which can be seen via the EVF so you can avoid it by shifting your framing by a millimeter.
  • 4k video is great especially if you want great color right out of the camera with the film simulation modes, but F-Log in camera would be nice. The recording limit without battery grip is also disappointing.
  • The design makes the X-T2 one of the most strait forward cameras available today, the EVF is great, but the grip isn’t perfect.
  • Battery life is good for mirrorless, but not DSLR level.
  • The Fujifilm X-T2 is one of the best mirrorless cameras available today.

Phil Anderson Mini Review From The Fujifilm GFX Owners Group

Shared with Phil Anderson’s permission from The Fujifilm GFX Owners Group.

Pro’s –
– Resolution for days – even in the superfine JPEGS which come at at 20mb each
– Nice feel in the hand – very secure even without a strap
– Controls are all very familiar for fuji users and the buttons not being labelled is a great move
– Free tethering (finally), and being able to run off mains power in the studio – I didn’t expect that
– Nice to have a tilt screen again coming from the xpro2 where I missed that
– Dynamic range – oh my god
– Stunning bokeh – see below
– The glass is impeccable as always. Both lenses I have a super sharp
– Finally a button for back button focus which you don’t need to dislocate a thumb to use!! Thats awesome and now will be using that technique all the time
– The 4*3 aspect ratio in portrait orientation is super cool – why haven’t I used it before??

Cons –
– AF speed is back to where it was in the early generations of fuji cameras. On the 63mm it is the slowest and noisiest – the 32-63 is much better. Now this isn’t a problem for my studio work at all – on location it’s more difficult to get nailed. This is not a camera for sports! I am sure future firmware and lenses will improve it a little – but of course it’s never going to be as snappy as the XT2 or xpro2. I guess there is a whole load more glass to move around – and my expectation to be fair was just about met in this aspect.
– The strap – dammit fuji – I could have bought a small car for the price and you give me a cheap ass strap with connectors that don’t fit my peak design rig?
– Temporary problem that LR doesn’t deal with RAWS – trying a few workaround options in the meantime.
– Whilst I know this is light for MF – it will take getting used to shooting with such a monster coming from the fuji APSC range.
– The aspect ratio of 4*3 is going to take some getting used to in landscape. Of course with the resolution you can crop to more pleasing ratios (I like more width) but then you trade in resolution.

So all in all – it’s an incredible camera. Definitely some kinks to work out and a very different shooting experience than anything to date to get used too.

Will feedback after my two model shoots on Sunday as to how we got on with humans in the studio. Hope that’s useful for anyone considering a purchase!
