Fujifilm GFX FPS First Look

For those curious about what’s in the Fujifilm GFX FPS program welcome kit. It includes two Fujifilm GFX hats, a FPS key ring, microfiber cloth, vouchers, membership card, GFX sticker/label and welcome letter. I didn’t photograph the back sides of the card or the vouchers more closely because they have unique identifiers on them with my membership information, but it all comes in a pretty small box. The hats are only ok quality and I wish they included a t-shirt instead of a second hat since I do not wear hats. There is also an odd sticker that I think is meant to be placed on shipping containers to clearly identify your camera/lens when you send it in to be cleaned/serviced. The stickers weren’t packaged in a way that ensured they had a nice presentation so I didn’t include them here and I need to contact Fujifilm about them.

When Fujifilm contacted me about payment they gave me the option to extend the warranty on my Fujifilm GFX 50S to 3 years for $100. I am still considering the option, but my AMEX extends warranties automatically and I am pretty sure the next GFX will be out by the time my warranty expires. I highly recommend purchasers use credit cards with protection perks when buying equipment this expensive. Instax SQ10 Now Shipping and Early Reviews/Hack

Ivan Joshua Loh hacked his Instax Square SQ10 to print images from his Fujifilm GFX, X-T2, X-Pro2 and X100F via the micro SD card. The process involves converting your JPG files into JPEG files that are JFIF compliant using Paint Shop Pro if you aren’t using a camera that creates compatible files. Photographing The World With the Fujifilm GFX 50S and Elia Locardi, Plus The Hireacamera US Road Trip

Travel Photographer Elia Locardi took the Fujifilm GFX 50S across the US to capture America and it wasn’t any different than doing it with a Full Frame DSLR. Actually, it can be a little lighter than a Full Frame DSLR. He did this while compiling his video lesson photographing the world, which you can find below.

Fujifilm GFX 50S vs Canon 5DSR, Nikon D810 and Sony a7RII

Yugatech’s video review is now available and they liked the

  • Light Body
  • Battery on the Side
  • Ergonomics
  • AF Joystick
  • Accurate Focus When Well Lit
  • Tilting Touchscreen
  • Amazing Image Quality
  • High ISO Performance

They disliked:

  • Low light AF Performance
  • Inconsistent Lowlight AF Accuracy

Below Kaddr.com compares the Fujifilm GFX 50S to the Canon 5DSR, Nikon D810 and Sony a7RII. The Russian to English auto-translation subs aren’t great, but there are some good comparison photos in the video. I think the takeaway from the video is that out of the 4 cameras the Fujifilm GFX has the best shadow recovery and skin tones of the 4, but the Sony a7RII is able to best the GFX around 12,800 ISO.
