Fringer EF-FX Pro Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art AF Performance

Fringer released another Fringer EF-FX Pro demo today showing off the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art‘s autofocus performance. The Fringer EF-FX Pro seems to have very consistently fast AF performance thanks to the large phase detect autofocus area of the Fujifilm X-T2, but I hope the adapter is more stable than some of the other AF adapters I have tried. We should see a release from fringer soon with how many videos they have been releasing lately. The Fringer EF-FX Pro has come a long way.

Fujifilm X-E3 Geotagging and X-Pro2 Lockup Fix Firmware Updates Available

Fujifilm X-E3 firmware 1.10 adds Bluetooth GPS support and comes with a user guide. You can download the firmware here and get a copy of the user guide here. Feature list:

  1. 1.Auto Geotagging and Date/Time synchronization by Bluetooth pairing
    When connecting to Bluetooth, Geotagging and Date/Time information of a camera can be synchronized with the information of a smartphone. “SMARTPHONE SYNC. SETTING” is added in Bluetooth SETTING.*To use this function, the application software “FUJIFILM Camera Remote” needs to be upgrade to the latest version Ver.3.1.0.
  2. The phenomenon is fixed that live view blinks on LCD and EVF with face detection and dynamic range 400% setting.

Fujifilm X-Pro2 firmware 4.01 fixes a freezing issue. You can download the firmware here. Feature list:

  1. A phenomenon of freeze is fixed. It will occur in case you try to shoot pictures when all the three settings below are set at the same time after the firmware has been upgraded to version 4.00.
    1. IMAGE QUALITY : FINE+RAW or NORMAL + RAW
    2. RAW RECORDING : LOSSLESS COMPRESSED
    3. DRIVE : any of ADVANCED FILTER

If you decide to buy the GFX + GF110mm bundle you should be aware of my GF 110mm experience and leave enough time for an exchange if necessary. If you like to hold off on purchases until the need arises then you might need to build in a week or two lead time. It’s highly likely these errors are happening simply because Fujifilm is trying to keep up with demand rather than any significant flaw in their operation, which is kind of a good problem to have, but Fujifilm needs to slow down and take its time. Most of us can wait for a little for the quality product we are used to.

Fujifilm Camera Remote 3.1.0 Released Today: Adds Bluetooth GPS and Time Sync Support

Fujifilm camera remote 3.1.0 now supports date and time sync and/or location information with cameras that offer Bluetooth capabilities. The Fujifilm X-E3 is currently Fujifilm’s most Bluetooth friendly camera so hopefully, this feature works well for X-E3 owners. You can download the Fujifilm remote app from the iTunes Store and Google Play Store.

Canon Responds About Fujifilm X-T1 Composite Photograph and It’s Not Good Enough

Canon responded to FStoppers claims about the image they posted using a sky from a photo taken by Elia Locardi with a Fujifilm X-T1 with a less than ideal statement. I included their Italian and English response, which they put on their Facebook page, which I won’t link to again because they don’t deserve the traffic.

The image was taken by photographer @gregpaulmiller on a Canon EOS-1D Mark IV, with the following settings: ISO 100, f/6.3, shutter speed 2 seconds according to the website Unsplash.com. We do see the similarity with the image taken by Elia Locardi, though, the images have various identifiable differences including seasonal changes and additional elements like the people walking or sitting on the sides of the banks.
We always try to inspire our community when highlighting user generated content and hope that by posting this photo we have inspired others to take amazing pictures as well.

Canon should have acknowledged that it was a composite image and apologized. The photographers made it impossible to know what he had done unless you follow Fujifilm photographers. They even could have had something fun and positive with the post and said something like wow Fujifilm photos are really looking good or why would we believe part of this photo was captured at 16MP. Really any kind of acknowledgment would have been fine, even if it was nasty like we are sorry it’s hard to determine these kinds of things at web resolutions.

Instead, we get EXIF data and there are some similarities, but there are also identifiable differences including the season, people walking, etc… Which completely ignores the composite nature of this photograph. Canon really just needs to take this on the chin and they should not be surfing “free sites” for photos because those sites do nothing to ensure what is posted is owned by the poster.
