Fujifilm X-H1 With XF200F2 Coming Soon!

The release of the Fujinon XF 200 f/2 is getting closer with this teaser from Fujifilm slipping out, showing what it looks like mounted on the Fujifilm X-H1. The Fuji X-H1 and XF200F2 look like they will go together very well and the IBIS system will certainly help while shooting sports or wildlife. Below is what we know about the XF200F2 so far.

XF 200m f/2 will coast around 4900-5000$ and will not be   (yes, will not) compatible with 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverter.

There will be a new teleconverter with compatible with XF 200mm. The teleconverter will coast around 900-1000$

Total Price (XF 200mm + Teleconverter) will cost 5800-6000$

There is no exact information about type (1.4x or 2.0x) of converter. But a guesses “it will be 1.4x tele converter” (most probably)

The Fujinon XF200 f/2 will cost between $4,900 and $5,000. If the rumor about the new TC is true it is a disappointing development, because the current 2x and 1.4xTC work very well and many of us that need them own them already. This looks like it will be an amazingly competitively priced lens compared to Canon EF 200mm f/2L IS USM and Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II, which both cost a few hundred more than the Fujinon XF200F2. We first reported the actual price of the XF200 about a week ago here.

Fujifilm Complete Guide Updated With Fujifilm X-H1 and XC15-45mm

Fujifilm updated the complete X system guide with the Fujifilm X-H1 and Fujinon XC15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ. They also removed the Fujinon XC16-50mmF3.5-5.6 OIS so it will likely be discontinued soon.

Lensbaby Burnside 35mm f/2.8

Lensbaby just a new lens for X-mount with a dual diaphragm for creative swirly Bokeh.

Lensbaby Delivers a Modern Take on Classic Lenses with the Burnside 35
Portland, OR (February 15, 2018) – Lensbaby—makers of award-winning creative effects lenses, optics and accessories—announces the launch of an entirely new kind of creative effects lens, the Burnside 35.

The first ever wide angle adaptation of the Petzval lens design, this 35mm f/2.8 lens creates images with a large, bright central area of sharp focus and striking color rendition surrounded by variable, swirling bokeh and vignette. It also features an effect slider that operates as a second internal iris that changes the shape and amount of swirl in the bokeh; all while adding or removing vignette and center brightness.

Burnside’s 35mm focal length lets you capture a scene at a normal-wide perspective with a dimensionality that makes your subject jump off the page. This lens opens up a new world of creative possibilities for those shooting street photography, landscapes, environmental portraits and more.

“The Burnside 35 is one of the most versatile Lensbabies we’ve made,” said Lensbaby Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder Craig Strong. “It gives you the ability to have a strong or subtle creative effect in a single lens, a lens you might just keep on your camera all day long.”

Adding to the Burnside 35’s versatility is the radical, new effect slider that can be used to add center brightness, in-camera vignette and adjust bokeh detail. You can toggle the gold-anodized effect slider on the barrel of the lens to create variable balance and harmony between center brightness, bokeh and vignette. The effect slider features a four-stop range of vignette and bokeh enhancement so you can dial in the exact look that appeals to you.

Burnside 35 joins Lensbaby’s lens lineup as an all-metal, non-tilting lens similar to their bestselling Velvet series. Made specifically for full frame and crop sensor cameras, this lens is compatible with Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony A, Pentax K, Micro 4/3, Sony E, Fuji X and Samsung NX.

Burnside 35 Product Specs:

Focal Length: 35mm
Aperture Range: f/2.8-16
6 blade internal aperture
8 blade secondary internal aperture for the effect slider
Minimum Focus Distance: 6 inches
Maximum Focus Distance: Infinity
62mm filter threads
Focus type: Manual
Size/ Weight: 13.2 oz (374.21g)
6 multi-coated glass elements, in 4 groups

TVSTV: Wooden Niccolls Behind The Scenes Shot Using ETERNA on The Fuji X-H1

The Camera Store TV released their Wooden Niccolls behind the scenes for their recent Fujifilm X-H1 project that we teased a few weeks ago. All of the behind the scenes footage here is shot using ETRNA and isn’t color graded at all. Everyone involved in the project sounds really impressed and even the senior colorist that was involved in the project really liked Fujifilm’s ETRNA LUT. Overall nothing but good to say from everyone involved in this video and you get to see the clip at the very end of Chris Niccolls recreating a scene from Collateral playing Tom Cruz.

Fujifilm X-H1 Field Testing, ETERNA and a Look at Fujifilm’s Professional Mounts

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Trhd4tdL3TQ

It’s always interesting hearing a videographers/cinematographers perspective on handling a new camera designed for them. Many photographers like IBIS, but the technology is most useful for professionals that shoot photos and video. Most photographers can make any lens work for them with the capabilities of modern sensors without turning to IBIS, but it is always nice to have access to tools. It looks like Fujifilm did a very good job with their focus pull speed adjustment tool from the above video and it will allow for a lot of creative possibilities using AF X-Mount glass, which should go beyond those of m43 at this time since the GH cameras are strictly contrast detect AF.

I think a lot of photographers and videographers are going to enjoy the new Fujifilm X-H1 body because it should feel very much like the Fujifilm GFX on a diet, but beyond that, it will very much be a professional X-series camera. There are some bad X-mount photos out there showing some differences in the X-H1 mount, but if you look at the X-T2, X-Pro2, and X-H1 mount square on they are remarkably similar. It’s why the corners matter so much for Fujifilm’s IBIS system. These photos are from launch cameras and were shot professionally to be similar at different times.

Maybe Fujifilm will do an interview in the future discussing how they got around the mount limitations or maybe they will always keep the solution to themselves. I’m curious what a photo irresponsibly pushed looks like when IBIS is working hard. I guess we will see on March 1st because that’s when photographers will be pushing the X-H1 to the breaking point.

Fujifilm X-H1 “Special Introductory Pricing”

It looks like some of the Fujifilm X-T2 sale is being extended to cover the X-H1 to encourage the adoption of X cameras. Fujifilm is certainly launching their cameras and even lenses sometimes in an aggressive way that isn’t commonly seen from its competitors.

Adorama is including the F-803 Camera Satchel Bag, Ruggedwear Canvas, Sand – By Domke in their X-H1 sales, but you have to create your own bundle to get lens savings.
