Fujifilm Half Frame Camera FCC Filings and First Look FF24003

The FCC has some interesting filings for the Fujifilm FF24003 camera, which will be made in China and could be interchangeable or fixed-lens. I generated some images based on the filings, showing what the camera could look like as an interchangeable lens camera with a standard sensor and a 1-inch sensor, but it is likely this camera will be a fixed lens camera in my opinion so that Fujifilm doesn’t have to worry about how lenses perform with the split frame aspect ratio.

The camera will be a little smaller than the Fujifilm X-M5, which is 111.9 x 66.6, and the half-frame camera will be 105.8mm x 64.3mm. The Fujifilm half-frame camera should be a fun camera when it launches with a range-finder-styled layout. The buttons to the right of the LCD make me think that the camera will operate similarly to a digital Instax camera like the evo or LiPlay with some X camera features. If it is priced right, it should sell very well and help convert people to Fujifilm.

P.S. I used 35mm as an equivalency, not the actual focal length of the lens

A Stylish Update in Instant Photography: Fujifilm Introduces instax mini 41™ Instant Camera

VALHALLA, N.Y., April 7, 2025 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Imaging Division, today announced the introduction of its new instax mini 41™ Instant Camera (“mini 41”). Updated with a stylish new look and improved functionality over its predecessor, instax mini 40™, including advancements in parallax correction and automatic flash control.

“Mini 41 is made for image makers who care about both form and function,” said Bing Liem, division president, Imaging Division, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “Mini 41 takes everything our consumers loved about mini 40 and levels up with enhanced performance and a modern design update – it’s easy to carry, easy to use, and matches the stylish aesthetic so many of our users bring to their photography.”

Key mini 41 features include:

Automatic Exposure functionality
The Automatic Exposure function automatically senses the level of ambient light when the shutter button is pressed, optimizing the shutter speed and flash output according to the scene. It allows users to produce high-quality photo prints on-the-spot in a variety of interior or exterior environments.

Close-up Mode with Parallax Correction
Mini 41’s close-up mode features Parallax Correction, which helps center close-up images (including selfies) by adjusting the position of the ‘focus’ mark to the lower left of the frame.

Updated, easily portable design
Building off the classic design elements of its predecessor, the textured, tactile body of mini 41 provides secure, ergonomic grip, and the subtle metallic-like finish and orange color accents add unique design elements to the camera body.

Availability:
Mini 41 joins a fun and versatile lineup of instax™ instant cameras and Smartphone printers. Fujifilm’s instax mini 41™ instant camera will be available for purchase by the end of April 2025.

DPR: Fujifilm GFX100RF Interview – Content Credentials, Hybrid Viewfinder, Aspect Ratios, And More

Fujifilm GFX100RF:
B&H Photo / Amazon / Moment / Adorama

DPReview has an interesting interview with Fujifilm managers Makoto Oishi, senior manager of GFX product planning, Yuji Igarashi, Manager of Fujifilm’s Professional Imaging Group and TJ Yoneda, assistant manager of GFX product planning. You can read it in full here or check out excerpts below. Also, the GFX100RF X-Lab videos that I translated were pulled, so the only information from them can still be found here.

  • The GFX100RF is made for street and documentary medium format photographers since its being small and light weight were the priorities
  • The GFX100RF wasn’t designed to look like the X100VI
  • The GFX100RF is more luxurious with its milled aluminum top made from a single piece of aluminum
  • This is the first time Fujifilm has milled a block of aluminum for a camera
  • With milling, they can develop any complicated, complex shape
  • It takes about 5 hours to turn an aluminum ingot into a GFX100RF top plate
  • The lens hood adapter ring goes one way, so the hook attaches only one way and is easy to align
  • Since the lens isn’t interchangeable, they can place the first element very close to the sensor, which is almost the size of the sensor
  • Several focal lengths and apertures were considered, but they picked based on what would allow for the best, most compact design
  • The camera is easy to hand-hold at low shutter speeds, and IBIS would have made the camera too big
  • Using a digital teleconverter should be fine with 102MP
  • Fujifilm thinks a digital teleconverter is better on this camera than an optical attachment, but if users want adapters, Fujifilm can consider it
  • The analog aspect ratio button is a connection between analog and digital technology
  • Fujifilm wants new medium format customers, and they think the aspect ratio dial that lets you control JPEG aspect ratios will help
  • Aspect ratios can be chosen in other Fujifilm cameras, but it can be clunky to use menus or a function button, so a dial was the solution
  • Fujifilm didn’t use a hybrid viewfinder because the magnification would be too small for such a high-resolution camera
  • Fujifilm created mock-ups of hybrid viewfinders for the camera
  • If the GFX100RF came with an optical viewfinder, it would have to cover 20mm of range when using the teleconverter, which would make the guide-lines too small so they went EVF
  • Fujifilm is still working on content credentials and how to implement CAI and the C2PA
  • Fujifilm believes content credentials are important because of AI
  • The entire industry must reach a standard for content credentials to work
  • If users or Fujifilm have to pay for content credentials, then most will not want it
  • Content credentials are not about AI vs photography as much as transparency
