Impossible Project is Trying To Save Pack Film via Kickstarter

We have done or best to cover the demise and hopefully resurrection of pack film over the past year, but there finally seems to be some progress. Florian “Doc” Kaps’ is in the process of putting together a Kickstarter to help the Impossible Project save pack film and he only has one shot to make it work. Amazon still has some left in stock but B&H Photo, and Adorama are sold out for good.

The Kickstarter is 30 days away and you can sign up to be notified about when it starts via the savepackfilm initiative and they even have some of the last run of pack film there too for when Amazon runs out. CatLABS has also expressed interest in wanting to save pack film, but they have been silent about their goals as of late.

Doc also did a blog post about his hopes which you can read here and find excerpts from below.

The real beauty and at the same time “the challenging beast” of such a campaign is the fact that it combines the possibility of a pre-sale based pre-financing of a production with the character of the hardest and most authentic market research mankind ever invented. Because each and every campaign asks a very precise question: DO YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT / SUPPORT THIS PROJECT? There is no “maybe” and no “eventually”.

Therefore compromises are no option and the key elements for a perfect campaign have to be developed with all honesty and focus:

  1. A perfectly working prototype and real proof of concept
  2. Waterproof agreements with all key partners
  3. Clear understanding of all production and development costs that you base your end customer prices on (also defining the reward prices)
  4. A dense network of supporters and influencers taking care that all potential customers globally hear about this campaign

So, this is the reason why we need your support right away. Not just talking about peseta, but also talking about your help to build a network and support us with your expertise and energy (thank you for the many offers we already received from you in the last weeks!!).

If you want to save pack film please share this article and what Impossible Project is doing so that future photographers will be able to experience this unique format.

Fujifilm X-T3 Battery Grip Registered as Photokina 2018 Approaches

It was safe to infer that the Fujifilm X-T3 would require a new grip especially since Fujifilm has registered a few new accessories. Now we have the first evidence of the new grip via Nokishita care of rra.go.kr. The problem with inference is sometimes it’s flat out wrong like the rumors of another new film simulation profile. If you follow a camera company closely it’s easy to come up with lots of very likely configurations, but we try to share just the details we can verify through our trusted sources even if they leak to us almost a year in advance like we received with the Fujifilm X-T3 and GFX 50R which others have now picked up.

Traffic has almost doubled to our site over the past month thanks to so many sites posting X-T3 speculation instead of rumors. Readers should take a lot of what’s out there with a grain of salt and we will continue reporting the facts even if they are well in advance of official statements. The Fujifilm X-T3 has become the most popular way people find our site and it continues to grow even without us posting speculative information for pageviews.
