Apple delivered “macOS 10.15.2” and we have confirmed the symptom that a camera is not connected to application software with the upgraded OS.

Therefore, if you upgrade the OS to “macOS 10.15.2”, keep in mind that the application software below cannot be used.

We are asking to Apple about how to treat it in case the OS has been upgraded to “macOS 10.15.2”.

We apologize for your inconvenience and would appreciate it if you could understand this situation.

Fujifilm X-T3, X-Pro3, X-T100, X-A7, X-A5, XF10, and FinePix XP140 Firmware Updates: UPDATE

Fujifilm released the Fujifilm X-T3, X-Pro3, X-T100, X-A7, X-A5, XF10, and FinePix XP140 updates in Japan, which I will update with US links soon. You can use these updates on any camera so feel free to get a head start and I will update the links when they go live.

UPDATE: It appears that shortly after I posted the firmware update last night it was pulled because not everyone could update, but has since been fixed. The US site still hasn’t posted the new firmware with a fix yet.
* From 17:00 on December 17th to 15:15, there was a defect that the released firmware could not be updated.
For this reason, the temporary download has been cancelled.
Currently, the firmware has been replaced with the modified firmware. If you have not been able to update the firmware, please update the firmware again.

Changes from Ver.3.01 to Ver.3.10

Please download and check the X-T3 New Features Guide from the website for the operation method and explanation of the following items (No. 1) to be added or changed.

  1. Gimbal / Drone support (*) The following
    functions that were not supported by USB communication will be added when shooting still images.
    ・ Start / end
    of movie shooting ・ Set exposure conditions (exposure mode, shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation) for
    movie shooting ・ Manual focus adjustment for movie shooting
    * Communication via USB. For information on gimbal and drone products that will be supported in the future, please refer to the support model information of each manufacturer in addition to our support page.
  2. Fixed other minor bugs.

  1. Corrected the symptom that a line-shaped scratch may occur on the right edge of the image in ES (Electronic Shutter) continuous shooting.

  1. Flash photography can now be performed at the color temperature specified when an external flash is attached.
  2. Corrected the phenomenon that the focused AF area is shifted when displaying images enlarged with touch zoom.
  3. Corrected the phenomenon that shooting is not performed at the set step when AE bracketing is performed under specific setting conditions.
  4. Fixed other minor bugs.

Fujifilm X-Pro 3 Roundup

The Fujifilm X-Pro3 hasn’t had the warmest of welcomes, but it seems most photographers that get their hands on it end up liking or even loving it’s controversial design. I think most fans of Leica Rangefinder-style cameras like the design, but very few people get to use a Leica camera today and even fewer own one so it can be difficult to fully relay the significance of the Fujifilm X-Pro3’s design.

I previously compared the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and M240 and my heart won that battle, but if I were to do a similar comparison today with the X-Pro3 I think things would end differently. Fujifilm has decided to be bold and I think it will pay off for them, but it might take a while.

DPRTV: Best and Worst of 2019 Plus Drunken Shenanigans

DPRTV uploaded their best and worst of video today and it is much better than last year’s video, but still not quite as entertaining as their older Camera Store TV bit. I largely agree with their findings and I think many of you will too, but the GFX100 was robbed. So watch above for the show and read below for the findings:

Best Lenses

  1. Tamron 35mm f/1.4 – such a great optically fantastic lens that is even worth adapting to mirrorless
  2. Panasonic 10-25mm f/1.7 – Great breathing corrected lens for video
  3. Fujifilm XF200mm f/2 – 300m f/3.0 equivalent on full-frame proves Fujifilm is ready to compete in any market

Most Improved

  1. Canon EOS R – First great firmware update for EOS R that made the camera very capable
  2. Panasonic G9 – Huge new firmware update brought almost all the powerful video features from the GH5 at a great price point
  3. Olympus EM-1 Mark II – Got a lot of the EM1X features this year

Best Hybrid Camera of 2019

  1. Panasonic S1H – Packed with features and hard to beat
  2. Fujifilm X-T30 – Beautiful image quality that is basically a compact X-T3
  3. Leica SL2 – Very expensive, but fantastic for video and photos with stand out image quality

Best Camera of 2019

  1. Sony a7RIV – If you think with your head the a7RIV is a technical marvel for the price and size
  2. Fujifilm GFX100 – If you like image quality no other camera has ever come close to the GFX100, but it comes at a price
  3. Leica Q2 – The camera they had the most fun with this year has a great sensor and lens

Above I mention that Fujifilm was robbed and even Jordan agrees it should have been the GFX100. If you do not take price into consideration the GFX100 is a no brainer and it is the first camera that has caused me to basically liquidate my Sony kit. I will likely buy more Sony cameras when the a7SIII comes out if it lives up to the hype, but until then the GFX100 will handle almost 100% of my needs. In my estimation, Fujifilm and Sony are the future of photography and videography and everyone else is just trying to catch up.
