Sigma Done With Price Increases

We covered the announcement of price increases from Sigma on SonyAddict here and which ended up being about 10% here. Now, Photorumors has received news that Sigma doesn’t intend to increase prices any further, so Sigma is probably going to use one of the tactics that I covered here to keep prices acceptable for consumers.

Sigma lenses can be found at B&H Photo and Amazon.

Fujifilm X-T5 Teardown For Full Spectrum Conversion and Analysis

Image via irrecams Sven Lamprecht

Fujifilm X-T5:
B&H Photo / Amazon / Adorama

IRreCams.de published a Fujifilm X-T5 teardown on its site. IRreCams offers Infrared, Full-spectrum, and Astro modification for your existing camera, or they can sell you a new Converted Camera with a 2-year guarantee. You can view the full teardown here, or you can check out some of their findings below:

Since the first sensor-based image stabilization in the X-H1, Fujifilm has gradually made the sensor module smaller and lighter. The module in the X-T5 is the most compact we have ever seen in a Fujifilm camera – and the design on the data sheet shows no disadvantages compared to the slightly larger module in the X-H2. Similar to the sensor of the X-H2, the X-T5 also has a few precautions to dissipate the heat from the sensor towards the housing, but these are not quite as extensive as on the X-H2 (after all, the X-H2 still has to keep a cool head even when recording 8K video).

Some modern cameras have an internal infrared LED. Stray light from this LED can be visible on infrared images in poor lighting conditions. However, a test shot of the converted X-T5 gives the all-clear: the camera has no such LED problems. The image is completely black after 30 seconds at ISO 12,800 (apart from the expected noise). This means that the X-T5 is not only suitable for the Conversion to an infrared or full spectrum camera but also for a Astromodification in order to become sensitive for H-Alpha light.

The sensor shows no unwanted sensor artifacts such as a line pattern of the PDFA pixels and delivers a very good resolution, dynamic range and noise performance.

For an infrared or astro camera, the X-T5 is suitable in all respects – at least as long as you shoot in RAW. Unfortunately, the firmware does not manage to set the required white balance correctly for color IR images – as with almost all Fujifilm cameras, this task must be performed on the PC.

Pocket Fold 66: The First Polaroid SX-70 Inspired Instax Camera

10Art.cc is releasing a Polaroid SX-70 styled Instax camera called the Pocket Fold 66. They made the following announcement the other day:

I always think about what kind of instax is the final form.
At the same time to meet the “portable, image quality, reliable, easy to use, good-looking”.
6 years ago we made the HVSQ Hasselblad instax back, image quality is good but not portable;
1 year ago we made a separate body module PRESSkit, portable but image quality is not good enough.
We’ve also tried various kinds of medium and large format lens adapter solutions
None of them seem ~perfect~.

So here it is, the POCKET FOLD 66
A foldable optical viewfinder auto metering instax camera.
A complete all-in-one camera.
Pf- A camera that folds to fit in your pocket.
66- Uses instax square photo paper.

This is a machine that pays homage to Dr. Land and references the Polaroid sx70.
I think we can all agree that this is a machine that cannot be bypassed in all instant imaging cameras. It’s just too classic and too old. It’s perfect, and not perfect enough.
But also note that this is not a copy, it’s a rebuild.
We have only followed its folding structure, because it is the only one that can be made extremely compact, and here is great respect for Dr. Land’s ingenuity, RESPECT!

On this basis, we have optimized all components and redesigned the entire optical, electronic, and mechanical drive systems.
A tribute to a classic, revisited!

Here is a brief overview of the camera parameters,
Details will be itemized in a subsequent article.

Pf66

The project is relatively large, and will still use the pre-sale + public sale method, but this time the pre-sale should be limited, a small number of pre-sale quota, to alleviate a bit of the pre-shipping workload, so that the later goods people can buy as soon as possible. Of course, the pre-sale will have a mystery gift.
There is no need to rush the public sale, and the goods will be spread later. I hope everyone can buy, use and have fun.

Pre-sale date: Selected release date
Pre-sale price: TBD

Official price: to be announced

Thanks for the attention.
Seriously make a good camera for you guys to play with.
10ARTCC Only want the best!
