First Fujifilm X-M5 Promotional Video Posted With Lots of Screen Captures

A video affiliated with the Fujifilm X-M5 launch was posted to Instagram and has since been pulled, which gives us our first good look at the Fujifilm X-M5. I came across the video earlier and downloaded a copy of it before it was pulled, but I have been busy dealing with real-world Florida stuff. The new Fujifilm X-M5 looks a little more compact than the X-E line of Fujifilm cameras and it has a very disappointing PSAM dial. The video seems to show off the camera’s ability to continuously shoot, utilize film simulations, and record video.

Full Spectrum Infrared Camera Sensor Analysis by Irrecams and SurfLabX

Irrecams has an interesting article about the differences between various cameras and sensors that have been converted to Full Spectrum with testing performed by SurfLabX. When exploring the infrared sensitivity of various camera sensors, Fujifilm models like the X-T3 show impressive capabilities, detecting infrared light up to 1,200 nm.

Interestingly, frontside and backside illuminated sensors have similar performance, indicating that sensor manufacturing techniques have minimal impact on infrared performance, similarly, sensor size does not play a factor. Noise control and dynamic range are the most important aspects when capturing high-quality infrared images, and the Fujifilm X-T3 and X-A3 do both well especially beyond 1000nm. For a more in-depth look, check out the full article on Irrecams.
