Chris and Jordan at Petapixel created a list of the greatest kit lenses of all time and it should surprise no one that the Fujinon 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS is on the list. It is rumored that this lens will be replaced with a Fujinon XF16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM WR.
- Canon 24-105 f/4 L
- Fujinon 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS – I actually have two Fujinon 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS and both are fantastic lenses that are great for beginners or users who do not want to carry more than one lens.
- Panasonic 12-60mm f/2.8-4
- Nikor 24-70mm f/4 S
- Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 – this was one of my first mirrorless lenses and it was a great kit lens paired with the Panasonic GF1 and I still miss having this combo.
It is not a bad list, but I am kind of surprised more m43 kit lenses weren’t on the list, because when m43 came to market most of the kit lens options were pretty great because they help sell users on the system.
