Fujifilm Full Spectrum Fujifilm X-E3

Fujifilm cameras are already very IR sensitive but I decided to pick up a full spectrum Fujifilm X-E3 to use for a variety of projects I’m working on including astrophotography. The first set of filters I purchased for this camera are the Desmond ICE Infrared 3 Filter Set 82mm IR 760 850 950 82 Optical Glass Slim. Desmond ICE isn’t really a well-known name, but the filters are high quality. You can see some examples I shot with these filters below before and after white balancing on green.

These shots were taken during a very cloudy overcast day in between rain showers with a 7Artisan 35mm f/0.95 and it seems to be a pretty good lens for IR wide open, but I haven’t tried to stop it down yet. Many lenses are ok wide open for IR but fall apart as you stop down so I might develop a guide over time. I also like the look of a full spectrum camera without a filter because it reminds me of old-school Kodak films like Kodachrome.

If you have any questions or things you would like me to test feel free to comment below or contact me directly. You can also strike up a conversation in our groups. If I enjoy Full Spectrum enough I may even convert my GFX100 when Fujifilm releases a better GFX camera.
