DPRTV reviewed. the Fujinon GF45-100mm f/4 LM OIS WR on the Fujifilm GFX100. Below is a summary of the video above:
- The GF45-100mm is about a 35-80mm
- Could use a wider zoom
- Fujifilm’s other zoom the GF32-64mm which about a 26-50mm
- If you own them both there is a lot of overlap
- Fujifilm needs to release a 20-35mm zoom to go with the GF45-100mm
- Can handhold at 1/30th a second at 100mm
- All the rings feel great and everything is weather sealed
- 82mm filter thread
- Well built high-quality lens
- 1005g or 2.2lbs so not much heavier than a 20-70mm full-frame
- Very well controlled chromatic aberration
- LoCA very clean and well-controlled
- Very little ghosting from flare
- Sun stars are ok
- Bokeh can get a little onion ringy, but not much cats eye in the corner
- Great lens for a camera like the GFX50R since there is no IBIS on that camera
- Very quick AF with its linear motor
- A very sharp lens that delivers on the GFX100
- Center very sharp and the corners even wide open
- Minimal focusing distance isn’t amazingly close
- Very consistent and high sharpness
- For video there is linear and nonlinear focus ring options
- There is a lot of focus breathing at the wide and telephoto end so it isn’t ideal for video
- It would be hard to use just this lens all-day
- You can use it for portraiture
- If you want really shallow depth of field you will want the GF110mm f/2
- Equal to about an f/3.2 in full-frame terms
- For architecture, you might want something wider
- The OIS is fantastic for the non-IBIS bodies
