DPRTV: Should Photography Dump Histograms and Move to Waveforms Like Videography?

Fujifilm has moved into videography in a big way and they were the first camera manufacturer to offer major new features via Firmware update so should they consider giving us access to waveforms while shooting photos? I kind of like the idea, but have only used waveforms in Final Cut Pro for editing. This might be easier for a company like Panasonic to add since they already have most of the code needed to implement the feature, but I could easily see Fujifilm beating them to the punch on this one.

The suggestion by the guys at DPRTV is probably the most high profile suggestion yet that manufacturers dump histograms for waveform, but will they listen? I doubt a company like Sony will take on the task, but I can see Fujifilm and Panasonic adding it as an option. DPRTV only gives a cursory explanation of waveforms above so I have included some better explanations of the feature below. So what do you think? Should we bring the world of Photography and Videography closer together?
