Companies like Samyang and the companies that rebrand their lenses like Vivitar, Falcon, Rokinon, Walimex, Bower, Opteka, Bell and Howell, Polar, and Pro-Optic target a more price conscious audience than first party lenses, but that doesn’t mean their lenses aren’t competitive in a price/performance analysis. It’s good to see a thorough comparison of the Fujinon XF56mmF1.2 R and Samyang 50mm F1.2 AS UMC on the Fujifilm X-Pro 2 by Mirrorlessons to help photographers make an educated decisions. I love my Fujinon XF56 1.2 and find the autofocus performance to be invaluable, but for photographers that can take their time manually focusing with the EVF the Samyang might be a compelling option.
