New Fujifilm X-M5 Rumor

We just posted the first Fujifilm X-M5 rumor here and now there is a new rumor on weibo that you can check out below:

26.1-megapixel APS-C X-Trans BSI CMOS 4 sensor;
equipped with an X-Processor 5 image processor;
supports DCI/UHD 60fps 4K [120fps 4k with cropping] video shooting;
dedicated Vlog mode for content creators;
425-point hybrid AF system;
7-speed in-body image stabilization;
Frame.io camera cloud integration;
20 film simulation modes;
3.0-inch 1.62 million-dot variable-angle touchscreen;
built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity;

These specs could be real or they could be based on a rough idea of what the Fujifilm X-M5 specs could be based on what Fujifilm has available to them at this time. If they go with the 26.1MP sensor the X-M5 could be an incredible value with an X-Processor 5.

Fujifilm Unbundled The INSTAX PAL From MINI LINK 2 Printer

Fujifilm unbundled the INSTAX PAL so you can purchase an INSTAX PAL if you already own a printer or prefer to use it with the Fujifilm INSTAX MINI LINK 3. The Fujifilm INSTAX PAL was launched in September 2023 as a bundle with the MINI LINK 2. Since then Fujifilm has announced and released the Fujifilm INSTAX MINI LINK 3 last month and the INSTAX PAL has been a hot seller abroad.

2023 Global Market Share and Sales Volume of Digital / Video Cameras

DC.Life posted the Nikkei Industry Map 2025 Edition data on digital video and video camera sales for 2023. Canon is still on top followed by Sony and Nikon with Fujifilm coming in 4th. Interestingly, Fujifilm sells half as many as Nikon and Panasonic half as many as Fujifilm, with Fujifilm having a much tighter lineup of cameras.

  1. Canon: 3.34 million units (46.5%)
  2. Sony: 2 million units (27.9%)
  3. Nikon: 810,000 units (11.3%)
  4. Fujifilm: 430,000 units (6.0%)
  5. Panasonic: 260,000 units (3.6%)
  6. OM Digital: 180,000 units (2.5%)
  7. Ricoh Imaging: 60,000 units (0.8%)

Canon and Sony are unlikely to be overtaken, but Nikon and Fujifilm have room to grow and Fujifilm might even be able to overtake Nikon if it produced a popular video camera model and straightened out its supply chain issues. At least the ever-shrinking camera market seems to be slowing its decline.

Fujifilm X-M5 Will Have A Film Simulation Dial

Fujifilm will bring back the Fujifilm X-M line of cameras soon as a fifth-generation camera called the Fujifilm X-M5 and it will have a film simulation dial like the Fujifilm X-T50. It will be interesting to see if the X-M line remains a budget camera with some mix of 24MP or 26MP sensor and fifth-generation processor. This also makes it likely that Fujifilm will call the next Fujifilm X-Pro the Fujifilm X-Pro5.
