Fujifilm GFX 50S: SLR Magic 0.95, Focus Bracketing, Fuji GFX vs Sony a7RIII vs Hasselblad X1D, and More

The full frame LTM SLR Magic Hyper Prime is one of my favorite lenses of all time and it’s a shame they no longer sell them new, but now that the GFX has a 35mm mode with firmware 3.0 the Hyper Prime is a great option for the Fujifilm GFX. Of course, you can use it without the 35mm mode and crop the image by hand to get rid of the vignetting, but 35mm mode will save you some time. When this lens came out most held it above the Leica Noctilux 0.95, which was twice the price and I am very disappointed that I never managed to keep one in my permanent collection before they discontinued production because I love the look of 0.95.

Below it’s interesting to note that a Hasselblad fan finds the Hasselblad X1D so bad that he’s abandoning the system for the Fujifilm GFX. I have read about the X1D improving a lot lately, but it sounds like the shutter lag is still quite bad. Hasselblad might want to get a move on the Hasselblad X2D if they want to survive.

If you’re wondering why it’s largely because the photography market has changed since the launch 0f the Fujifilm X-T2. There is a lot of competition at the price point of the Fujifilm X-H1.
