Fujifilm GFX100S RRS Modular Plate First Look and ROGETI L-Plate for Fujifilm GFX100S

Really Right Stuff finally uploaded images of its upcoming Arca Swiss Plate for the new Fujifilm GFX100S and Smallrig already started preorders for its L-Plate. I also found another L-Plate that looks quite nice from Rogeti, which you can view below and preorder directly here. In fact, I like the Rogeti design so much that I looked to see if they make a Plate for the GFX100, but they do not. RRS makes a great L-Plate for the GFX100 anyways that I really enjoy and it makes the camera feel a lot better in your hands.

New WANDRD PRVKE: One of My Favorite Bags

In 2018 when I had to find a quality bag to fit all my gear in for the Falcon Heavy launch I attended with my kids I purchased a WANDRD PRVKE 31L (the biggest they made at the time) to carry all of my equipment from my car to the launch site, which took about 7 hours to reach due to the number of people there. On top of the long trek which started first thing in the morning, I also have a very bad back that constantly hurts so evenly distributing the weight of all my equipment was crucial and the WANDRD PRVKE 31L did not fail me. Now they have updated the bag with some new tweaks and the WANDRD PRVKE Lite and WANDRD PRVKE 41L sizes being added to the lineup. This update has me considering the 41L now since I could have used a little more room in the bag and almost exclusively shoot GFX, but like to bring my X gear with me too.

The WANDRD PRVKE is great for hiking and it’s the bag I use to walk down to the beach at night when I want to photograph lightning since the bag does a good job of protecting my cameras and lenses during the walk back if it is raining and I find that I’m not in pain the next day from lugging around too much weight. I don’t quite pack it to the extent above for these kinds of events, but you can get a substantial amount of equipment in these bags comfortably, which is the most important thing for me since my back can put me out of commission for months if I overdo it and in 2018 I was carrying around two kids in addition to all of the above equipment so I would say the bag saved me from having a miserable month.

I know other companies make quality backs, but at this point, they would have to prove to me that they can do as good of a job of distributing weight as the WANDRD PRVKE for me to consider purchasing them. If you have back pain you know that once you find something that doesn’t add to your pain you become a fan for life and the WANDRD PRVKE is that for me.

Weird Camera: Fujifilm Rensha Cardia BYU-N 16 Golf GIF Camera

Fujifilm made a lot of unique cameras over the year, but the BYU-N 16 is one of the most interesting I have ever seen. Its 16 lenses, each with a shutter of its own tied to 2 shutter buttons, can capture 16 images in rapid succession to two 35mm frames of film. It is not quite a point-and-shoot camera since it was designed to capture golf swings, but I think it could also be useful for subjects like dancers going through a rapid range of motions.

Making the camera even stranger you can shoot 16 single shots in addition to firing all 16 shots rapidly or firing 15 shots with a single frame at the end triggered independently. This is all done using a 20mm f/9.5 fixed focus lens that is likely made of plastic with a fixed shutter speed of 1/250th a second so this camera requires a lot of extra light or quality high ISO film.

I went looking for a BYU-N 16 after seeing the above video, but couldn’t find any at this time. The few I have seen seem to have sold for just under $200 USD. I also found some sample shots here.
