Award-winning British tripod manufacturer, 3 Legged Thing, has announced Gracy – an innovative dedicated L-bracket for two of Fujifilm’s GFX range of medium format cameras – the 100S and the new 50S II.

3 Legged Thing collaborated closely with Fujifilm to ensure that the key functionality of the cameras was considered and included during the L-bracket’s design process.

“We’re delighted to work with the team at Fujifilm to bring our L-bracket expertise to these two GFX cameras,” said Stuart Boston, 3 Legged Thing’s Chief Operations Officer. “The medium format is perfect for a wide range of photography genres that benefit from using an L-bracket, and we’ve built-in some additional innovations that will improve workflows for photographers and videographers alike. The demand for Gracy is greater than we anticipated, and it is clear that Fujifilm customers have been crying out for an L-bracket with a level of innovation that improves both stability and workflow.

Precision engineered from aerospace-grade magnesium alloy, Gracy has been designed to perfectly fit the contours of both the GFX 100S and 50S II, providing full access to the side ports, battery door and memory card slots.

The base of Gracy features cut-outs for easy access to the rear tilt screen, along with a notch for improved audio of in-camera video playback. It also has a useful strap slot at the end, ideal for the attachment of hand straps. A Stainless Steel ¼”-20 camera screw is supplied to attach Gracy to the camera.

Gracy features a unique extendable base, enabling the use of tethering cables in portrait orientation, and an accessory for cable management is also supplied with the L-bracket. Studio and portrait photographers will find this useful for tethered shooting.

Gracy’s vertical aspect has an open profile which provides users access to all the ports in the side of the camera. There is also a combined 1/4”-20 and 3/8”-16 accessory attachment point at the base of the vertical aspect, which can be used in either landscape or portrait orientations, and enables the attachment of an arm for lights or monitors.

Gracy is available in 3 Legged Thing’s two signature L-bracket colours Copper, and Metallic Slate Grey, and is available from www.3leggedthing.com and camera retailers worldwide with a suggested retail price of £99.99 / US$119.99 / €99.99.

Fujifilm GFX50SII Free Try Before You Buy Program Announced

Fujifilm just announced a new try before you buy program in the United States to help push adoption of the GFX50SII. It’s interesting that the GFX50SII has been pretty available compared to previous GFX cameras at launch, so it seems that most prefer 102MP to 50MP, but the 50MP sensor in the GFX50S and GFX50SII is a fantastic sensor. I still very much miss my GFX50S and would gladly have one in addition to my GFX100 if I could justify tying up the money. Of course, if you want a smaller form factor that is more DSLR like go with the GFX50SII or GFX100S because it will produce equally beautiful results, but if you like the Fujifilm way go GFX100 or GFX50S.

Fujifilm X100 – It Will Improve Your Photography and It Is An Ideal First Camera

Fujifilm X100V: B&H Photo / Amazon / Adorama

Over the years I have helped a lot of photographers move from Canon/Nikon/Sony to Fujifilm and most of them started their Fujifilm journey with an X100. In fact, the reader that sent this in is a friend that used to shoot Canon and Sony but left them for Fujifilm due to the X100 and the above video does a good job of covering why.

Fujifilm stands out among its peers due to its superior feel that makes you want to take the camera with you everywhere you go. It’s also a great first camera because it will encourage you to learn how to use an exposure triangle when shooting instead of trusting the camera to do the work for you. Sure smartphones are convenient, but I personally take maybe 3 photos a year on my smartphone because I generally have my X-T4, GFX100, or X-E3 IR with me when I leave the house.

The restrictions of the Fujifilm X100 are actually very liberating because they make you think more carefully than shooting with a zoom lens or a more automated camera system. The X100 is best when you go back to basics and embrace classical photography because it will improve how you shoot and compose substantially without providing additional frustration. The only real downside is that it might hook you and make you want to explore more of what Fujifilm has to offer.
