I have been a fan of mirror lenses for a while now and the Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex has been on my lengthy list of lenses to get someday. Well, that day has arrived with the Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex being discounted $25 at B&H Photo and Amazon, but Amazon has an additional 20% off which brings the lens below $200! So of course I could not resist. I plan to use this lens for some birding and hopefully some deep-sky shooting with my new full spectrum Fujifilm X-E3.

Mirror lenses are great for keeping your bag light and providing you with a ton of reach and they are pretty easy to design right. The only real weakness of mirror lenses in my opinion is the donut bokeh that can occur, but for under $200 will working around it really bother you when the image is sharp?

I only found this discount because Photorumors spotted a unique spotting scope that is coming soon and is being marketed for Fujifilm cameras. The scope looks compelling and I might give one a try when they become available.
