Fujifilm GFX100S II PIX4Dmatic 3D Drone Compatibility Announced

High-resolution 3D models help improve the efficiency of drone aerial photography inspections

FUJIFILM Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshikazu Goto) is pleased to announce that the FUJIFILM GFX100S II (hereinafter “GFX100S II”), a mirrorless digital camera featuring a 102-megapixel large-format sensor *1 , is now supported by Pix4D Inc. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Andrey Khreimenov), a provider of 3D model generation software, with its PIX4Dmatic *2 software . This enables users to easily generate high-resolution 3D models from aerial images taken using the GFX100S II in combination with a drone, supporting efficient inspection work at plants and infrastructure facilities.

In recent years, with the aging of plant facilities and social infrastructure, the importance of maintenance inspections has increased. Furthermore, the demand for drone inspections has increased significantly due to factors such as labor shortages and rising labor costs caused by the declining birthrate. Since 2024, we have been collaborating with domestic drone manufacturers to conduct research into high-precision drone aerial photography inspections using the GFX100S II. Taking advantage of the GFX100S II’s 102-megapixel resolution, drone aerial photography captures images with the same level of accuracy as close-up visual inspection *3 , even in high-altitude and inaccessible areas . This has been well-received by users, including inspection companies and plant management companies.

PIX4Dmatic, compatible with the GFX100S II, is software that generates highly accurate 3D models using advanced, next-generation photogrammetry (Structure from Motion) *4 analysis technology. Processing data with PIX4Dmatic makes it easy to obtain 3D models that combine both bird’s-eye views and ultra-high-resolution, detailed images. This makes it easy to create 3D models of complex facilities, such as plants with countless pipes and buildings, streamlining inspection work. Furthermore, the system supports the development of solutions, such as those combining it with AI detection software, to further enhance inspection efficiency.


Our facility was photographed using the GFX100S II mounted on a drone.

426 high-resolution images taken from 45m above the ground were used to generate a 3D model, allowing for a high-definition view of the entire facility. By simply zooming in on the composite image, it is possible to check the details and measure the size. This allows for a bird’s-eye view of the entire facility, which is better than looking at a single photo and is also useful for investigating the causes of deterioration.

We will be participating in JAPAN BUILD TOKYO, Japan’s largest construction industry exhibition, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight from December 10th to 12th. Our booth will feature high-resolution 3D models created by combining PIX4Dmatic and the GFX100S II, as well as two industrial drones, the Build Flyer Chrome and the Series Hybrid Drone, offered by Ishikawa Energy Research Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ota City, Gunma Prefecture; Representative Director: Mitsuru Ishikawa), which are compatible with the GFX100S II. We will continue to combine our extensive camera product line with imaging technology and software to develop solutions that support the challenges of the construction, plant, and infrastructure inspection markets.

About the FUJIFILM GFX100S II mirrorless digital camera
The FUJIFILM GFX100S II, equipped with a 102-megapixel large-format sensor, is capable of capturing ultra-high-resolution images when paired with a dedicated interchangeable lens. It captures an area approximately four times larger than cameras equipped with a 26-megapixel APS-C sensor, shortening shooting time when mounted on a drone. Furthermore, its extremely lightweight weight of approximately 883g (body only) allows it to be mounted on a drone using a consumer camera system, offering excellent cost performance. Fujitsu provides a Linux *5 SDK *6 for remotely controlling the GFX100S II, enabling it to be used not only with drones but also for filming with vehicles and robots.

Fujifilm released updated versions of  Pixel Shift Combiner and RAW File Converter EX 3.0.

The software update Ver. 1.7.0 incorporates the following issues:

  1. A new [Capture One Plug-in] is added to launch Pixel Shift Combiner from Capture One directly.
    • Once this plugin is installed, you can launch the Pixel Shift Combiner by selecting RAW files captured using Pixel Shift Multi Shot photography of Capture One.
    • When using the Pixel Shift Combiner with Capture One, [Session] is recommended comparing to [Catalog].

RAW FILE CONVERTER EX 3.0 powered by SILKYPIX Ver 8.1.19.0 Download Here

The software update Ver 8.1.19.0 incorporates the following issues:

  1. X-E5 camera newly becomes compatible.
  2. Application is now compatible with macOS Tahoe 26.
