The Camera Store Talks GFX and Fujinon GF 63mm f/2.8 R WR vs GF 32-64mm f/4 R LM WR

The Camera Store TV crew did a live stream talking about the Nikon F4 and Fujifilm GFX50S recently, but it is lengthy since it is a live stream so here are the details:

  • The GFX feels fantastic, but it’s not pretty it’s practical and functional
  • Chris throws the throws and spins the GFX in the air with the 32-64mm attached, which is odd, but shows how light the camera is..
  • Focus surprising fast in AF-S, but AF-C isn’t great, but the 63mm is the best for AF-C
  • They shot down to 1/15 a second hand held without an issue with the 120mm (they call it the 110mm second big blog to make the mistake), but the 120mm has stabilization so keep that in mind.
  • 5D Mark 3 is noticeably heavier with a 24-70mm then the GFX with 32-64mm
  • Can’t wait to adapt lenses its a big advantage.
  • Might put a GFX underwater
  • GFX should be a great Landscape/Studio camera and will likely do well at street too.
  • Prefer 4:3 format photography

You can find the GFX talk at 8:15 and 34:30 if you want to fast forward to them.

Samples and Comparison
AHMED GENCAL created two albums on Flicker that are worth checking out. He has a general album here, but the more interesting one is his Fujinon GF 63mm f/2.8 R WR vs GF 32-64mm f/4 R LM WR. If you really want to check out the comparison you need to download the images, but to my eyes the 32-64mm seems to out resolve the 63mm in his comparison.

The test is slightly flawed because the framing isn’t exactly the same. The above image was shot at 60.70mm on the 32-64mm and he might have miss focused, but still very interesting when looking around the frame.
