FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA Interview – GFX100II For Film Makers

The Fujifilm GFX ETERNA kind of surprised everyone, but CineD already has an interview with Fujifilm Product Manager Makoto-san. You can watch the full interview above or check out the key points below:

  • Fujifilm has been working on this camera for over two years
  • The Fujifilm GFX ETERNA is based on the GFX100II but development isn’t finished
  • This is a different style of GFX with the same sensor and processor as GFX100II
  • The target isn’t just cinema, but also film makers
  • The layout is what is significant in this camera
  • The picture quality will be the same as the GFX100II but the camera is optimized for filmmaking with additional features
  • The rolling shutter should be the same as GFX100II
  • Still developing so can’t say what additional features will be in the camera software-wise like codecs and resolutions
  • There will be internal ND
  • The sensor is 12-bit
  • Rolling shutter will remain the same
  • The camera is just being developed in 2025 so it could ship later
  • Fujifilm doesn’t have a price yet
  • If they did an X ETERNA camera it would have to be totally different
  • Confident the G mount is good for video and Fujifilm will develop specific film lenses for the camera
  • Original design not inspired by others
