Bighead Taco released a video after his article covering the Fujinon GF 23mm f/4 R LM WR. It’s kind of a rehash of his previous post with some additional pictures and impressions, but it’s good for those that do not like to read.
Leica Review has a lot of viewers considering the Fujifilm GFX 50S over the Leica M10. I was kind of in the same position since my background is in Leica, but I am still very happy with my M240 and in some ways, I believe the Leica M240 to be superior to the Leica M10. I actually have a review pretty much completed for Leicarumors, but I’m not entirely happy with it yet. The Leica M10 is a great camera, but for the price, the Fujifilm GFX 50S blows it away if you desire image quality.
It’s also interesting to note that Leica Review buys into a few misconceptions about lens design because of the Leica S system, but it is fair to say that modern medium format lenses are designed in an optically superior way to older lenses. Larger sensors are more forgiving for a variety of reasons, but beyond the purchase of a body, you can buy two GF lenses for your GFX for the price of one Leica M lens, three of four for the price of an S lens.
The Leica S is an incredible camera and I have to admit it has great skin tones etc… but in some ways, it is very over built and the SL should have been a mirrorless S. The Leica S will out focus the Fujifilm GFX 50S, because it uses a phase detect system, but I personally prefer the GFX. The S is the only camera that really compares to the GFX, but very few photographers have had the opportunity to shoot one and Lecia could really make waves if they revamped the S system now that the Hasselblad X1D and Fujifilm GFX50S are available. Leica has some great regular focal plane shutter and leaf shutter lenses for the S system and a mirrorless S could be very adaptable.
Strangly DPReview released a product overview video for the GFX today.
