Samyang 50mm F1.2 AS UMC vs. Fujinon XF56mmF1.2 R

Companies like Samyang and the companies that rebrand their lenses like Vivitar, Falcon, Rokinon, Walimex, Bower, Opteka, Bell and Howell, Polar, and Pro-Optic target a more price conscious audience than first party lenses, but that doesn’t mean their lenses aren’t competitive in a price/performance analysis. It’s good to see a thorough comparison of the Fujinon XF56mmF1.2 R and Samyang 50mm F1.2 AS UMC on the Fujifilm X-Pro 2 by Mirrorlessons to help photographers make an educated decisions. I love my Fujinon XF56 1.2 and find the autofocus performance to be invaluable, but for photographers that can take their time manually focusing with the EVF the Samyang might be a compelling option.

The Fujifilm X-T2 is Getting Attention From Serious Video Blogs

News Shooter seems intrigued with the possibilities that the new Fujifilm X-T2 could provide cinematographers. Generally News Shooter covers Fujifilm glass made for professional video cameras, but this is the first time they have seriously considered a Fujifilm camera for professional work. They have a interesting interview with DP Emmanuel Pampuri that’s been beta testing the X-T2 along side the photography community. In addition to their own video centric launch post coverage. If the profession of cinematography interests you or if you’re looking to get away from Sony/Canon for your cinematography work then News Shooter is a good place to start

Fujifilm X-T2 vs X-T1

PocketXT1vsXT2

Pocket-lint has a very well organized comparison between the Fujifilm X-T2 and X-T1. The initial information dump for announcement day has slowed and now we are seeing a lot of sites comparing specs and debating about whether to upgrade from the Fujifilm X-T1 or not. When I purchased my Fujfilm X-Pro 2, I planned to sell my X-T1 after doing a few comparisons, but I could never bring myself to sell it because the X-T1 is surprisingly competitive. I think the same is true of the X-T2 vs X-T1.  Their close release dates were not nearly as far apart as the dates between the Fujfilm X-Pro2 and X-Pro 1, so upgrading probably wont be as competing as the X-Pro upgrade path.
