Fujifilm Education Program Now Available

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

The Fujifilm Education Program is running from April 10th, 2016 through July 30th, 2016. This is the first time I have heard of the program, the official X series US twitter retweeted it earlier today so maybe it is something new. Sadly a lot of similar programs were ended, in the past, due to fraud so please don’t abuse the savings that are meant for students and faculty only.

Fuji X-T2 Ebay Listing: Sold

unannounced-Fuji-X-T2-camera-listed-for-sale-on-eBay

The other day our friends at Photo Rumors broke a story that someone was selling a preproduction Fujifilm X-T2 on E-bay. I’m curious if Fujifilm repurchased this camera or if we will continue to see pictures of it on websites up until the release of the X-T2. You can read more about it on the Ebay listing or by continuing to follow Photo Rumors. If this camera wasn’t stollen I’m pretty sure the owner of it will never receive another from Fujifilm.

Iridient 3.1 Now With Fujifilm X-Pro2 Compressed Raw Support

iridient31

Download Iridient Developer Here
Release Date: April 29, 2016 Version History
Film Style Preset Pack 5 for APS-C models (X100T, X-T1, X-E2, X-M1, X100S, X-E1 and X-Pro1) Here
Film Style Preset Pack 1 for compact models (XQ2, X30, XQ1 and X20) Here

New Raw Camera Support:
Fujifilm: X-Pro2 compressed RAF.

  • Improvements:
    • Greatly improved highlight recovery when using some DNG Camera Profiles (DCP files or embedded in some DNG images), especially those that include color lookup tables.
    • Stronger, more effective Highlights (Neighborhood Adaptive) and Shadows (Neighborhood Adaptive) processing, especially for the higher end of the adjustment range.
    • No longer using the embedded DNG camera profiles by default for some of the recent Leica models (SL, T and Q). The embedded camera profiles do not seem to be well liked by many so I have now switched to my own custom ICC profiles for these models, the manufacturer’s embedded profiles are still available in the Input Profile menu.
  • Bug Fixes:
    • Worked around an issue introduced in Apple’s Mac OS X 10.11.4 update when using the Highlights (Neighborhood Adaptive) and Shadows (Neighborhood Adaptive) adjustments. On Mac OS X 10.11.4 the brightness would jump greatly at a certain level when using either of these adjustments.
    • Fixed an issue with the Iridient Reveal and High Pass sharpening methods where zooming in to high magnification, typically 300% or more, could cause the sharpening to not be applied correctly and in some cases the preview would also be very dark.
    • Fixed a bug with several of the monochrome conversion methods which could result in the appearance of white speckles in very dark regions, particularly when using negative values for the Brightness Shadows or Brightness Midtones adjustments.
    • Fixed a crashing bug with RAW support for some old Canon models, mostly from 2007 or earlier models (original 5D, 1Ds, …).

Fujifilm X-Pro2 and XF35mmF2 Developed Concurrently

X-Pro2aXF35mmF2
Fujifilm released a behind the scenes of how the X-Pro 2 and XF35 F2 came into existence concurrently as technological steps forward for the company from the previous generation of Fujifilm cameras. I wonder if we might see a second generation XF35F1.4 at some point since it is mentioned in Fuji’s article. The XF35F1.4 was the first Fuji lens to blow me away, but I have stayed away from it for a while now because of its dated design. I greatly prefer WR lenses that are silent when focusing and reasonably compact, like the XF35F2.
