Fuji X-Pro ACROS Edition?

Lucky
A few weeks ago, I wrote about a development in the world of JPEG engines that made me think of the possibilities a good in camera development system could provide. Today, after shooting a local St. Patrick’s Day celebration, I have ACROS burned in to my head. I have always been a RAW shooter, but with my Fuji cameras, I usually shoot RAW+JPEG to see how their engine interpreted a scene.

I’m still getting the hang of the X-Pro 2, but using the EVF and looking at ACROS through the EVF for several hours made me consider an interesting possibility. The overwhelmingly positive response to ACROS might one day lead to a monochrome X-Pro type camera with an ACROS tonal signature. Read More »

Things are looking up for Fujifilm FP-100C?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTqybRVTeas

We’ve been following the battle to save Fujifilm FP-100C closely over the past few weeks (Here) and (Here) via Florian Kaps blog. It is full of photos from his trip to save packfilm, and the latest post concluding his trip is ambiguous at best. “NO! BUT YES!” leaves me wondering if Florian Kaps managed to influence Fujifilm enough to prevent the total cessation of production. I would really like to see the presentation he put together, in addition to getting his impressions, because it just sounds like Fujifilm continuing to treat their fans well, but if you are a fan of packfilm, there is still some forward progression to follow. The movement managed to gather 18,000 signatures at change.org, which is an increase of 3,000 since last week, and you can continue to vote for packfilm with your dollars while it is available on AmazonB&H Photo, and Adorama. You can also follow the official savepackfilm.net to keep up with any developments.

Big Package, Big Picture: The Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR and 1.4x Teleconverter Review

Title

Most of my photography is of the rangefinder/street shooting variety, but I have always enjoyed telephoto photography. It’s a different experience that generally forces you to carry a lot of extra equipment. Many telephoto professionals/enthusiasts own heavy duty tripods and utilize remote release systems to get optimal results, but the Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR does not need these tools thanks to its exceptional image stabilization. I usually do not keep a lens like this in my bag, but after over a month shooting with it I’m having a hard time imagining not owning one. It is a very effective lens that never felt too heavy, even after carrying it on my X-T1 or X-Pro 2 all day. Read More »

DPReview Finished Reviewing The Fujifilm X-Pro 2

X-Pro 2

DPReview finished reviewing the X-Pro 2 and it is full of high praise. I just finished reading their review and it is very fair and thorough, but I wish they tested more lenses, since system performance is largely lens dependent. The cons seem like a stretch to me since they are classifying the camera as semi-professional, but check it out and leave some feed back about their review.
