Fuji Guys Why You Should Go Beyond Kit Lenses: Telephoto Lenses

The Fuji Guys take the Fujinon XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WRXF 55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS and XC 50-230mm F4.5-6.7 birding on the Fujifilm X-T10. Out of the three I think the XF100-400mm is the best performer and I highly recommended it in my review, but the XF 55-200mm is the best value.

Fujinon XF 23mm f/2 R WR 4k Footage: Day of The Dead

Last year I took a lot of photos at The Day of The Dead Parade with my Leica’s, but this year I decided to try my Fujifilm X-T2 and Fujinon XF23mm f/2 R WR to see how they performed. I already shared my photos, but here is the 4k video I shot the other night. This is the RAW footage and it was filmed fully manually so any errors are my own. In the first video I manually focused at 9ft where I figured the first banner would be fully visible and then I pulled focus to about 6ft for the rest of the parade.

The camera was set to 1/50th a second and 1/50th a second with the ISO set to 6400 in both videos for consistency, but the sun was setting so the camera is really struggling in the second video at times. I used Provia Standard with everything zero’d out because I didn’t have any intentions to do color grading etc… and the audio was capture with the internal microphone, which was set to 3 for the first video and 15 on the second (an error on my behalf). I probably could have focused better with an external recorder with a bigger screen, but I did my best under the conditions. Hopefully you enjoy the videos and follow me on YouTube, because I would like to produce more videos in the future. If there is an interest in video I’ll put out the money for an atomos and do log video right.

Fujinon XF 23mm f/2 R WR Gallery: Day of The Dead

If you read the site and aren’t following me on 500px you should because I have been categorizing my photos on there according to camera used and I have begun doing it by lens also, to help readers/viewers make purchasing decisions. I just started a gallery for the Fujinon XF23mm f/2 R WR and will be adding to it over the coming weeks. It’s a little easier to do by camera, but I am trying to create alternative resources for you. Camera Labs Highly Recommends The Fujifilm X-T2 “It is a Triumphant Camera”

cameralabsxt2

Yet another glowing review for the Fujifilm X-T2 and with the newly announced Olympus OM-D EM1 Mark2, that garnered a lot of hype and attention, being a bit over priced it should continue to dominate the mirrorless market for the time being. All that’s left is to see how Sony answers since the Sony a6500 isn’t really a true competitor.

“The Fujifilm XT2 is a triumphant camera that’s a joy to use. It looks good, feels great and handles superbly in a wide variety of situations – whether you’re shooting people, landscapes, architecture or action, there’s little the XT2 doesn’t feel equipped to deal with. The controls are well thought-out, the viewfinder superb, the response and handling confident, and the output very satisfying straight out-of-camera.”

Iridient Developer 3.1.2 Released

iridientdigital312

  • 3.1.2 – October 31, 2016 (Maintenance Release)
    • New Features:
      • Support added for RAW images from the Fujifilm X-A3.
    • Improvements:
      • JPEG export libraries updated (libjpeg-turbo 1.5.1).
      • PNG export libraries updated (libpng 1.6.26).
    • Bug Fixes:
      • Fixed an issue with automatic lens vignetting correction for Fujifilm X models which could result in overcorrection (too much brightening) in the corners with some lenses and aperture settings. In some cases this issue could also result in the image appearing all black with automatic vignetting correction enabled.
      • Fixed a drawing issue with several of the toolbar icons on Retina displays with macOS 10.12.1 (Sierra) where the icons would draw slightly too large and get partially clipped.
      • Fixed an issue on macOS 10.12 and 10.11 with the aperture text field in the preview window where the text would not display or would be clipped with long strings (typically f/10.0 or smaller).
