Firmware Upgrade For The FUJIFILM X-T2, Enabling Tether Shooting Support

Fujifilm Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) has announced that it will release a free firmware upgrade for FUJIFILM X-T2 on November 8, 2016. The updated firmware introduces tethered shooting function which allows users to connect the camera to a computer via a USB cable, allowing you to capture and save your images directly onto computer, and allowing you to control the camera from the computer.

[Improvements with this firmware update]

  • Tether shooting is available via USB connection. You will require additional software stated below to use the tether shooting function.
    – Tether Shooting Plug-in PRO for Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® Ver.1.3 or later*
    – Tether Shooting Plug-in for Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® Ver.1.3 or later*
    – Tethered Shooting Software HS-V5 Ver.1.3 or later
  • *Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 6 or CC is required.

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) is pleased to announce the launch of “Tether Shooting Plug-in PRO for Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom®” to enable tethered shooting of FUJIFILM X-T1(hereafter X-T1) and FUJIFILM X-T2(hereafter X-T2)* to a compatible computer.

“Tether Shooting Plug-in PRO for Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom®” is a tethering software plug-in that allows Lightroom users to connect X-T1 / X-T2 to a computer via USB cable for direct saving of captured images onto computer, and controlling the camera from the computer**.

“Tether Shooting Plug-in PRO for Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom®” will be available from Adobe Add-ons website*** for US$79. The launch of the Mac OS X / macOS Sierra version*4 is scheduled for release around the beginning of November 2016, and the Windows version*5 is scheduled for release around the beginning of December 2016. DigitalRev Fujifilm X-T2 vs X-Pro 2 Hands-on Comparison

DigitalRev goes hands-on with the Fujifilm X-T2 and X-Pro 2. It’s their usual classic goof littered with specs. One thing to keep in mind when watching is that their X-Pro 2 is running pre 2.00 firmware so it is only using phase detection 1/3 of the time instead of 2/3 of the time like the Fujifilm X-T2.

Tony & Chelsea Northrup Fujifilm X-T2 Review

It’s been a while since Tony & Chelsea Northrup declared that the Fujifilm X-T2 can produce results sharper than the Canon 5DSR, but their review is finally complete. It’s kind of pieced together, but seem pretty impressed, calling the X-T2 the best camera for high quality photos and video. I wish they would have updated their video to reflect their memory card issues and discovery of the Fujinon 90mm f/2 R LM instead of addressing it in the description and video annotations.

Fujifilm 2017/3 2nd Quarter Financial Report

It’s good to see that sales of the Fujifilm X-Pro 2 and X-T2 are continuing to increase steadily along side already strong instax film sales. It will be interesting to see where instax square fits into their profits going forward. You can read the entire report here if you’re interested.
