Happy Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a US holiday, but I have always considered it a holiday for remembering everyone that has fought to make the world a better place. Issues like post traumatic stress disorder affect a variety of people regardless of borders/nationality and it’s good to see that photography can help bring some veterans peace.

Fujifilm Australia Does X-Pro 2 vs X-Pro 1

Fujifilm AU assembled a great resource for understanding the differences between the Fujifilm X-Pro 2 and X-Pro 1 for people that really want to dive into the details. Also, Billy from the Fujiguys recently did an interview talking about the future of the X-Pro 2, where he discloses the headroom built into the X-Pro 2 for firmware improvements in the future and that the X-Pro 2 will not do 4k because it’s not designed to dissipate enough heat. Billy also says that the X-Pro 2 is considered a little on the large size by Japanese designers, which is amusing because many feel that it is finally about right.

A Different Take on Kumamoto

The CameraStore guys have a well thought out take on the fallout from the Kumamoto Earthquake. Some manufactures have been very honest about the shortages that are to come, while others have down played the incident. Lets hope Fujifilm hasn’t downplayed the affect of the Earthquake on their production capacity and that it doesn’t delay the X-T2 launch much. In the mean time it’s a very good time for Fujifilm fans to go lens shopping.

Bloomberg has selected the Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 for its top travel camera list, as the camera best suited for family fun. These little awards and top picks might not seem important to many photographers, but Fuji’s continued presence on lists like these ensure that Fujifilm’s camera division remains profitable and relevant. Instax is a driving force in Fujifilm’s imaging devision and I can’t wait to see what the next generation of Instax will bring to the mass market.

Instax as A Medium Format Back

Brock Saddler hacked his Instax to be a back for his Bronica ETRS camera and the results are interesting. The details about how he performed this hack are a bit on the light side in his interview with the phoblographer, but you can pick up a Bronica ETRS camera and Instax Mini, to try it yourself. I might give this a try when I  complete my current Fuji project, but if someone beats me to duplicating the hack I would be more than happy to interview them for the site.
