Shooting fireworks has been a hobby of mine for a long time, but I am never disciplined about it because my local celebration has a lot of things to shoot beyond fireworks. I generally shoot wide to 50mm all day, depending on my mood, then when the fireworks start ill find a palm tree to lay against to stabilize myself some if I didn’t feel like carrying a tripod all day, but Tom Grill has a different approach utilizing a zoom lens to fill the frame. Most of us probably know the proper settings for these kinds of shots, but if you’re looking to brush up Tom’s article can be a good start. He used the Fujinon 55-200mm to take his pictures, which is tighter than I tend to shoot fireworks, but he has some nice results.

I just binge watched Fujifilm’s X-photographers – behind the frame series and it is compelling, but I wish they were released in batches because they are very short (about 2 minutes). If you are already a Fujifilm fan the quotes in the videos will probably resonate with you, but if you are considering switching to Fujifilm these quote might help you understand why so many have picked Fujifilm cameras over competing mirrorless systems.
Episode 1
