Fujifilm GFX 50S: Potential Issue And No Flash? No Problem!: Updated

Last night I was shooting fire performers on the beach with the Fujigilm GFX 50S just to see if it could and it did well, but I also took a long exposure. I slightly under exposed the 4 minute exposure, because I’m still getting used to shooting this long and when I edited the image I noticed an issue. There appears to be a line in the image. It might be something I did or just pushing a file exposed for this long, but no one has pointed out the issue yet. I hope to do some more testing tonight, but I wanted to share the image and issue I encountered.

Originally I processed the file in Lightroom, but then I decided to try Iridient X-Transformer and it produced a slightly more detailed image than Lightroom. Iridient seems to work very well with the GFX’s bayer sensor, even thought it’s known for having the best X-Trans support. Iridient X-Transformer makes optimized DNG file from Fujifilm’s RAF format, which is why anyone looking to make DNG files for use in programs like Capture one should use Iridient X-Transformer. Programs like Silkypix just aren’t worth using if you care about image quality. DNG is a great RAW format and it’s a shame more companies haven’t adopted it, since it is a universal RAW format that contains a profile.

Morethanwords made a 5 stop mistake that the Fujifilm GFX50S was able to recover from, which you can read more about here. I have mentioned this before, but it happens when you’re starting with a new system and this cameras ability to save you butt is exceptional.

Laroque is lusting after the GFX and sharing samples.

Varis took the Fujifilm GFX to Italy stating that “The GFX has more in common with a regular mirrorless camera than a big studio medium format camera”, which I couldn’t agree with more.
