New Fujifilm 26MP X-Trans V Sensor and Video Camera Rumor

A new rumor about a new 26MP sensor has surfaced on weibo that is most likely inaccurate, but we will have to wait and see. Fujifilm’s current 26MP sensor is still one of the very best and so is their 40MP sensor.

Fujifilm may announce the X-Trans CMOS 5 image sensor for the next generation of mid-range video cameras (such as XS), which is basically an evolution of the speed and focus of the X-Trans CMOS 4. The PDAF density reaches the X-Trans CMOS 5th generation standard, and the video reading speed reaches 12bit full pixel 60fps and 4K point-to-point 120fps. It can be considered as a non-stacked version of the 26M BSI stacked X-Trans 5 CMOS HS. It is more suitable for video shooting and continuous shooting than the X-Trans CMOS 5 HR. – E8M_8888

The rumor is also tied to the release of an entry-level video product, which makes the rumor a bit more interesting to me because I have long believed it would be smart of Fujifilm to start making video cameras to compete directly with Sony’s vlogging lines. Fujifilm recently announced the Fujifilm GFX ETERNA which makes the X-mount based video camera part of the rumor even more likely in my estimation.
