Fujifilm Film Production Resumes In China

Fujifilm is set to resume production of its “C200” and “C400” color negative films in Nanning, China, according to reports from Chinese media and the Xiaohongshu social network. These films will be produced by Yes!Star, known for medical films. A launch conference in Nanning on June 21 announced the production restart to meet rising demand for film photography. Guangxi Giant Star Medical Equipment Co Ltd, previously an OEM for Fujifilm’s high-gloss materials, will handle production.

There is speculation whether these films will be Fujifilm’s own emulsions or Kodak’s Gold 200 and UltraMax 400, repackaged as Fujifilm 200 and 400. The news alleviates concerns about Fujifilm discontinuing still film production and aligns with broader trends in Chinese color film production. Recently, Shanghai reintroduced Shenguang 400 film, and Lucky Film announced plans to resume color negative film production by the end of 2024.

Fujifilm film can be found at B&H Photo and Amazon.
