DPRTV posted their final review of the Fujifilm X-T5, and not surprisingly, they like the camera a lot for photography.
- The Fujifilm X-T5 returns to the smaller body of the X-T3 without the articulating screen of the X-T4 with a slightly larger grip
- Best Handling Fujifilm camera yet
- The camera is great with long glass
- The 40MP sensor gives you a lot of resolution to work with, along with Fujifilms great color
- Excellent low-light performance that is noisier when pixel peeping but pretty clean at similar levels of magnification
- The extra megapixels are worth the slightly more noisy image
- The best dynamic range of any of Fujifilms APS-C sensors
- Not great sensor read-out speeds with the X-T5 being 37ms and the X-T4 being 25ms, and the X-H2S being 6ms
- If you’re going to shoot in electronic shutter mode then you will get rolling shutter
- The mechanical shutter moves at 15fps, and it is super stable
- The mechanical shutter is one of the best on the market because it is quiet and low vibration
- The punch-in magnifier isn’t great
- Great face and eye detection for static or slow-moving subjects
- Pretty good tracking AF that gets better the closer you get to the camera
- Sometimes the camera’s AF will jump to a busier portion of the frame
- Sony cameras will give you a slightly better hit rate
- Video performance is completely different than the X-H2 even though the sensor is the same
- 4k 30p will record the full with of the sensor, but it is sub-sampled vs. super-sampled in the X-H2
- 4k 60p will apply a small crop factor
- There is a 4k HQ mode that uses a 6k portion of the sensor, but there is a massive crop in that suffers from rolling shutter
- The camera is unstable when recording longer clips, and sometimes there are writing errors
- Managed to record a 70 min clip at 4k 60p, so overheating isn’t likely the problem
- If you are going to shoot video, the Fujifilm X-H2 is a better camera for you
- The classic control aren’t great for video
- The Fujifilm X-T5 really is the photographer’s camera
- The Fujifilm X-T5 is great for street shooting, and it is the successor to the X-T3
- One of the best APS-C cameras for image quality
