Chinese Manufacturers and Fujifilm GFX

From what I am being told, this year and next should be packed with third-party Chinese glass for GFX, which will make the system even more attractive than it already is, with most lenses planned for release costing substantially less than $1k, which is around the price point where Fujifilm’s cheapest GFX lenses fall at this time. Some will be standard primes, while others will be tilt and tilt-shift lenses. This shouldn’t be much of a surprise with Chinese lens manufacturers canalizing each other’s designs for X-mount, while almost everything coming to GFX will be new or based on a full frame design that can cover the GFX’s sensor.

Chinese lens manufacturing has really picked up over the past few years, which means it is likely that the government is getting involved in the industry to fulfill a strategic purpose. This could be a good or bad thing we will all have to wait and see, but many legendary Leica lenses have already fallen to Chinese competition at a fraction of the price unless made in Germany is worth a crazy mark up to you. If you don’t believe me check out the TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95 and TTArtisan 90mm f/1.25, which both surpass the legendary Leica designs they are based on. The future of GFX is looking bright.
