Fuji Guys – Power Banks Explained
Power Banks are very useful for photographers/videographers and Fujifilm has fully embraced their usage allowing most of their latest cameras to recharge while being powered by a battery bank. I personally bought the Anker PowerCore+26800 PD as the largest battery bank recommended for the Fujifilm X-T3, instead of the alternative Anker PowerCore Speed 20000 PD. The Anker PowerCore+26800 PD is great for when you do not have time to charge your camera/s on the go and I highly recommend it. The above video is short and on point, but I will summarize it below:
- It’s always good to have extra batteries, but sometimes you run out when doing things like camping
- A battery bank can help you greatly extend your camera’s battery life
- There are many types of battery packs for charging your phone, which will also charge your camera, but they might be a little slow
- What you really want is a power delivery battery bank like the Anker PowerCore Speed 20000 PD or Anker PowerCore+26800 PD that can provide beyond 5V of power
- Some battery banks go up to 20V like the Anker PowerCore+26800 PD
- Voltage beyond 5V and 1-2a allow you to power your camera while charging
- You really want a USB-C connection on the PD power bank to take advantage of the higher power delivery standards
- The wall chargers that come with the PD banks can be useful too because they deliver more power than standard wall charges and they can be used as an AC adapter for your camera too
- Power Banks that can only deliver 5V won’t power the camera, but they will charge the internal battery
