Fujifilm GFX + Laowa 9mm f/5.6 For A Unique 7.1mm Mega Wide Angle Experience

Mattias Burling tested the COVID-19 delayed Laowa 9mm f/5.6 Zero-D for M-mount on his Fujifilm GFX50R with a Kipon adapter and it actually covers a surprising amount of the sensor with the lens hood being visible on the top and bottom of the frame. The lens also vignettes some, even on full-frame, but if you shoot 16×9 or 65×24 then the images are quite usable and are completely unique using the full width of the sensor. The lens also has a close focus distance of 10cm which allows for more unique creative opportunities.

It might even be worth someone trying to remove the fixed lens hood from the lens to get access to even more of the sensor’s ability to resolve if you really like the look of a rectilinear 7.1mm lens. I personally really love the look of wide-angle XPan aspect ratio photography so I might pick up this combo when it becomes available.
