Fujifilm GFX View Camera Adapter Update

Lewis Von John is one of the few photographers publishing online guides about the Fujifilm GFX 50S as a view camera and his latest video does the best job yet of showing off some of the advantages of learning this form of photography. While I haven’t ventured into view cameras yet I have friends like maksdikarev that shoot 4×5 and 8×10 view cameras almost daily, so the art form is far from dead, even if many in digital are unaware of the practice. Yet, as film becomes more difficult to secure, photographers will have to turn to solutions like Fujifilm’s to preserve this style of photography.

For photographers interested in diving into view cameras Lewis Von John’s recommendation of the Intrepid 4×5 paired with the Fujifilm View Camera Adapter G is an inexpensive way to experiment with this form of photography. There are also more expensive solutions like the Cambo ACTUS-GFX, which will somewhat simplify the whole view camera experience, but the bundle comes at a price. Of course, tilt shift lens or adapters are another option, but they do not provide view camera levels of flexibility.
