VILTROX 23mm f/1.4 Review – Does It Live Up To The Viltrox 85mm f/1.8?
Viltrox surprised photographers with the quality of their 85mm f/1.8. Now many wonder if Viltrox’s newly released lenses can follow it up with a similar level of performance for the price. Below is a summary of the above video for the Viltrox 23mm f/1.4:
- Clickless aperture moves very freely with a bit of a click at f/16 and a hard stop at f/1.4
- Metal lens hood
- Metal lens mount
- 11 elements in 10 groups with 2 ED elements
- 30cm min focus distance
- STM focus motor
- Nice lens for video
- 52mm filter thread
- 262g
- Feels solid and well built
- Well dampened focus ring
- Feels solid in use, but the aperture ring is a little too loose
- Easy to get decent results wide open
- Vignetting that is a bit dated looking
- The lens is sharp with nice colors and a little swirl to the bokeh
- Not for the pixel peeper
- Not an ideal focal length for shooting yourself, but not bad
- There is some focus breathing
- AF is good and focus tracking with video is quite good
- Video focus is pretty smooth
- A lot of the video in the review was shot on the camera
- Very good build quality
- Mostly trouble-free to use
- Sharp quality images with pretty smooth video to boot
- The Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 lives up to the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8
