Fujifilm Color Calibration GFX, X-E3, X-T2 and More

The X-Rite Color Checker along with some additional X-Rite products are currently discounted if you want to venture into making your own color profiles. Personally, I really like the profiles built into Lightroom for Fujifilm cameras and the ones like them that other companies have, but if you are looking for accurate color reproduction then you will need to do a lot of work to ensure your color is “correct.” Beyond owning a high-quality monitor that is calibrated and calibrating your equipment regularly you have to ensure that the individual printing and/or viewing your image has similarly high standards.

I do not find this to be realistic except under the highest production value projects, plus there is always the subjectivity of color to take into consideration and color science. The amount of time that you can spend on this issue alone is mind boggling and I have gone to the extreme before, which was when I first came across products like colorfidelity huelight, which recently released profiles for the Fujifilm GFX 50S and Fujifilm X-E3. These kinds of shortcuts are a little on the expensive side and I know nothing about how they are produced, but every camera has a slightly different sensor so your results may vary.

In my experience, there is no shortcut to getting good color and when someone respected says X about the color of a photo there tends to be a snowball effect. So beware of these quick color fix solutions, but also be open to trying them if you are particularly lazy about color. The first step towards getting good color out of your photos is trying to get better color than you were before.
